First Wesleyan Christian School provides a Christian education for nearly 275 students from age 2 through grade 8. Established in 1971 by the First Wesleyan Church, our secure, modern campus includes 24 classrooms, a gymnasium, and five playgrounds. We offer an accelerated K-8 Christian academy, a year-round academic child care program, and a 10-week summer camp/childcare program for grades K-7. Our conservative Christian values, small classes, professional staff, and accelerated academic programs equip our students to be future Christian leaders.
First Wesleyan Christian School’s academic preschool offers ten, small, self-contained academic classrooms for over 120 preschoolers ages 2-5. Preschoolers at FWCS start learning traditional A Beka phonics as two-year-olds and finish as four-year-olds knowing most of the academic concepts and skills that typical public school kindergarteners learn by the end of kindergarten.
First Wesleyan Christian School’s accelerated kindergarten classes take students through numberous first grade level reading concepts. In a typical year, at least 25 percent of FWCS’s kindergarteners score in the top one percent (99th percentile) of the nation on nationally normed achievement tests. Most kindergartener graduates easily read second grade words such as "splash," "scream," etc.
During their elementary years, First Wesleyan Christian School students work at an accelerated academic pace while enjoying an enriched curriculum—including weekly classes in art, computer, music, P.E., and Spanish. All these activities occur in a safe, positive, Christian environment free from common bullying, profanity, and violence.
First Wesleyan Christian School’s small middle school classes equip students with a wide range of skills such as public speaking, personal Bible study, typing at least 50 wpm, dissecting animals in science, music, art, Spanish, basketball, and volleyball. FWCS graduates go on to attend various public and private high schools where they consistently excel in academics, public speaking, sports, and more.
First Wesleyan Christian School provides various childcare services for children ages 2-12. These programs include a full-time academic childcare center for ages 2-5, afterschool extended child care for FWCS and Piedmont Charter students in grades K-8th, and a fulltime summer camp child care program for children in grades K-7.
Overview & Tuition
Children at FWCS are not only taught their academic assignments, but also how to honor, respect, and love God. I am constantly amazed at some of the things my second grader already knows about science, geography, and of the course Biblical times. FWCS goes above and beyond the common teaching.
